Co-created in tandem with artist Abby Lueth, we explore the use of the various sounds created by the synovial fluid in bodily joints like the fingers, neck wrists and toes. Used as a percussive-adjacent soundtrack, we experimented with how those sounds could be portrayed with movement, oftentimes resulting in expressions of movement far different from the movement used to prompt the noise for recording. While the auditory component may be off putting or visceral for some, the reaction in its premiere screening was initially met with much positive feedback and novel glee for the audience who experienced “talkative joints” as well who had had others look down on them for what is a completely normal, and fascinating phenomenon.
